Coaxial ceramic quarter-wave resonators made with modern high-performance ceramic dielectric materials are very useful as compact frequency standards, filter elements and distributed inductive or capacitive circuit elements. The high Q obtained in the UHF and microwave frequency range makes Knowles resonators the best choice.
Ceramic resonators are available in nine sizes: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 18 mm. There are five dielectric constants to choose from: 9, 13, 20, 36 and 98. Frequencies from 200 MHz to 10 GHz are available with tolerances from 1 to 0.25%. These resonators can be supplied as quarter-wave with one end fully metallized and the other end open, or as half-wave with both ends open.
For surface mounting, resonators can be supplied with metal tab contacts soldered to the ID of the resonator, or with the company’s unique tabless design where no metal tab or solder is used. With the metal tab contacts, a standoff tab can be supplied to allow a capacitance element to be soldered in series between the circuit board and the tab.
Knowles resonators and resonator assemblies are RoHS compliant and can be supplied in bulk or tape-and-reel packaging
